Tories fail to amend civil partnership bill
MPs have rejected an attempt by Conservatives to extend the rights granted to gay couples to cohabiting siblings.
The former Tory minister Edward Leigh argued that the Civil Partnerships Bill - which gives same-sex couples the legal rights over property and pensions enjoyed by married heterosexuals - would create fresh injustices.
