MPs enjoy property, antiques and other assets worth more than £1 billion, it was revealed yesterday.

The House of Commons portion of the Palace of Westminster is now valued at £623 million.

Portcullis House is listed at £266 million, while the Commons estate includes £35 million of antiques and other assets.

House of Commons administration accounts revealed that the parliamentary operation cost about £140 million to run last year.
