Tories slams 'stooges' on gambling committee
Conservatives have accused ministers of trying to steamroller their controversial gambling legislation through the Commons by "packing" the standing committee on the bill with supporters.
The Tories said the government had picked "stooges" for the key scrutiny sessions.
Opposition leader Michael Howard also attacked Tony Blair yesterday over a leaked email revealing discussion between culture department officials and American casino bosses.
Meanwhile an inquiry has been launched after a property developer won a casino contract from Labour-controlled Manchester city council weeks after donating money to a local party.
