The taxpayer will have to spend £33 million on maintaining the Millennium Dome before it is taken over by private developers in 2007.

English Partnerships confirmed on Sunday said that the monthly running costs, which include a small fee for a public relations agency to handle media calls, are £190,000.

The money goes on maintenance, insurance and security.
