Charles Kennedy has set out the legislative priorities for the Liberal Democrats over the coming months.

The Lib Dem leader detailed his party's "alternative Queen's Speech" on Thursday, and accused the government of "stoking up" a climate of fear so it could bring in a raft of "extremely repressive" laws which curb individual freedoms.

Kennedy said his party's priorities would include scrapping tuition fees and replacing the council tax system with a local income tax scheme.
