Casino limit hit by EU law restrictions
The government has been warned that an attempt to limit the number of super-casinos in Britain would breach European laws.
Ministers are set to table amendments to their Gambling Bill on Tuesday stipulating a figure for the number of pilot schemes.
But the gambling industry has published a legal opinion from Tony Wollenberg, a gaming expert, that any "arbitrary numerical limit" or planning restriction on super-casinos would be contrary to EU competition laws.
