New powers to curb travellers
Ministers have announced new powers for local authorities to force travellers off unauthorised sites.
"Temporary stop" notices will allow councils to remove unauthorised development or building work from a site and move caravans on.
The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister has also increased support for legitimate sites, saying that councils could apply for grants to cover the cost of residential sites.
The Tories said the proposals were too little, too late.
