Industrialist adds £200,000 to Tory coffers

Figures released yesterday have revealed that the Swedish-born industrialist Hans Rausing gave £200,000 to the Conservative Party in July.

Labour also received some big donations - with internet bookmaker Peter Coates handing over £50,000 at the same time as the government was putting the finishing touches to the gambling bill.

But as in previous years most of the party's funds came from trade unions.
