Police chief backs drinks price floor
The man set to become Britain's top policeman is calling for a minimum price to be put on alcoholic drinks in law.
Incoming Metropolitan Police commissioner Sir Ian Blair says in an interview with the FT that self-regulation by the pubs and clubs industry will not work as a way of beating binge-drinking.
