Cut MP numbers, say Conservatives
The number of MPs in the House of Commons could be reduced by 100, shadow leader of the Commons Oliver Heald has suggested.
Such a move would save taxpayers £20 million a year, he claimed.
"The public is entitled to effective representation, but we have more MPs than we need," he said. "It is an issue of value for money."
