Alastair Campbell will return to advise Tony Blair during the next general election campaign.

Downing Street also revealed yesterday that unlike the previous two campaigns, Gordon Brown will not be chairing the daily press conferences.

He will instead spend most of the next election travelling the country while returning to London for key economic press conferences.
