Doubts over Revenue accounts

The National Audit Office has warned that last year the Inland Revenue may have overpaid nearly £1 billion of tax credits.

Qualifying the organisation's accounts for the second year running, financial watchdog Sir John Bourn said the error rate was "unacceptably high".
