Unions back civil service strike
TUC delegates have voted to support plans for a national civil service strike on November 5.
Mark Serwotka, the general secretary of the Public and Commercial Services Union, called for all unions to "march together and take action together" in protest at the proposed job losses.
Ministers say the cuts can be made in the interests of "efficiency" without adversely affecting the quality of service.
