Universities should select for diversity

Universities could be given the chance to choose students from ethnic minorities over other applicants in order to increase student diversity.

The government's higher education admissions task-force has published a report which encourages universities to consider, "the educational benefits of diversity" when deciding on who to offer places to.

The report also calls for an end to A Level forecasting and the scrapping of university offers based on grade predictions.

The Telegraph describes the reforms as "the most radical changes to university admissions for more than 50 years."
