Howard backs gay Tory
Michael Howard has given his full support to a gay Conservative who is facing a deselection attempt in a winnable seat.
Conservative Central Office said Ashley Crossley, who is the Tory candidate for Falmouth and Camborne, was an "excellent candidate".
More than 60 local activists have signed a motion of no confidence in Crossley.
They have not explained in writing why they want to replace him, but his allies believe part of the explanation is that they are concerned with his sexuality.
