Three contenders vie for commissioner post

Three senior police officers are expected to compete to succeed Sir John Stevens as commissioner of the Metropolitan Police when he steps down next year.

Sir John’s deputy, Sir Ian Blair, is regarded as the favourite for the role. Ken Jones, the chief constable of Sussex, and Ian Johnston, the head of the British Transport Police, have also put their names forward.
