Howard shifts conference address
The Express reports that Conservative leader Michael Howard has changed the date of his keynote address to his party's autumn conference in order to prevent it being overshadowed by the Hartlepool by-election.
He will now make the speech on Tuesday October 5, rather than on the closing Thursday of the conference.
Party aids said the move was to enable Howard to "set an upbeat tone" early in the week.
