Ministers warned over fire dispute
Trade union leaders have told John Prescott that the firefighters’ pay dispute could "sour industrial relations" and threaten Labour’s public services agenda.
Seven general secretaries have called on the deputy prime minister to urge the fire service employers to reopen negotiations with the Fire Brigades Union.
The move is being seen as an attempt to boost the fire fighters' hand ahead of further pay negotiations.
