Tories pledge red tape action
The Conservatives yesterday set out plans to slash the red tape burden on British companies.
Highlighting the problem of "gold plated" EU regulations, shadow industry secretary Stephen O'Brien called for the "minimum implementation" of future rules.
The CBI and other employer bodies backed the plans.
But Labour and the Liberal Democrats said plans to allow firms to challenge burdensome rules in the courts would lead to more litigation and drive up costs.
