Bank tipped to raise rates

The Bank of England is widely expected to raise interest rates later this week.

But the FT reports that while most economists think a quarter point rate rise is likely, a growing number are backing a 0.5 per cent rise to tackle the continuing house price boom.

Meanwhile, a survey by BDO Stoy Hayward has found that recent rate rises are starting to hurt the business sector.
