Letwin slams Brown over civil service cuts
Oliver Letwin has cast doubt on Gordon Brown's pledge to cut 104,000 civil service jobs.
Labour accused the shadow chancellor of failing to value key public sector workers after the shadow chancellor appeared to categorise "crucial frontline staff" such as hospital porters and dinner ladies, as backroom bureaucrats.
Letwin declared that the chancellor was relying on a "wing and a prayer" to cut 104,000 civil service jobs.
