Nine Afghan men who forced a plane to land at Stansted airport at gunpoint in February 2000 have won the right to stay in Britain.

They are currently living with 26 relatives in London.

A judge ruled that the hijackers could not be returned to Afghanistan as it was still "unsafe".

The Mail claims that the cost of the case has reached £37 million and is due to rise when the Home Office appeals the latest decision.
