Howard admits credibility gap
Michael Howard has admitted that his party hasn't yet convinced the public that it is ready to form the next government.
"The challenge that faces us is to convince people that we are a credible alternative [to Labour]," the Conservative leader said.
Michael and Sandra Howard were interviewed on ITV's This Morning programme yesterday.
Being there was "fairly terrifying" Mrs Howard admitted, but she had words of praise for Cherie Blair.
"I think she does it incredibly well," she said.
The Telegraph was less than impressed, saying: "Michael Howard has a new campaign strategy. He wants everyone to know that he has a very attractive wife.
"It is the only explanation for a joint appearance... that otherwise may well have established a new record for pointlessness in political interviewing."
