War against terrorism starts at home

MI5 agents are to be deployed around Britain to combat the threat of Islamic terrorism linked to the al-Qaeda network.

Speaking to The Times, the director of public prosecutions argued that prosecutors must be given more powers against terrorism suspects.

Ken Macdonald revealed that he is seeking new powers, including the right to detain suspects for longer periods, to question them under compulsion and to enter into plea-bargaining details for more information.
