Tony Blair has confirmed that plans for the withdrawal of coalition troops from Iraq are underway with the country's new government.

Speaking in the Commons the prime minister said the plans will be published by the end of next month.

He also called on leading members of the NATO alliance to demonstrate more commitment to the efforts of the United States and Britain to counter international terrorism.
