Moving day for Tories

The Conservative Party departs its Smith Square offices on Friday after 50 years' residence.

The Tories are moving to new offices on Victoria Street that are open-plan and air-conditioned.

There are computer screens on most desks and ergonomic chairs costing £600 each.

"What a relief to get out of there, there's no air conditioning," was the view of one staffer.

"It's very gloomy inside - the windows haven't been cleaned for ages and the furniture is looking very tatty."
