Unions target policy shift
Left-wing Labour constituencies and unions will use a three day private conference next week to attack Tony Blair's election platform of choice, markets, pensions and light-touch labour laws.
Dave Prentis, Unison general secretary, warned yesterday that the stakes were high: "There is disaffection amongst core Labour supporters and activists, and the government has to reconnect with them if it is to get that third term."
