Clinton reveals Major cold shoulder
In a Guardian interview to promote his new autobiography, former US president Bill Clinton reveals how John Major refused to take his calls when he granted Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams an American visa.
Clinton also says that he "didn't mind people thinking I was mad" with Major over Conservative Party staff digging up dirt on his student past in a bid to help his Republican opponents, because it gave him a "little psychological advantage".
The Democrat is warm in his praise for both Major and Tony Blair, but warns that the prime minister and President George W Bush should not isolate Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
