Reid to lobby for MPs' support

John Reid believes the government has not done enough to explain the case for NHS reform to Labour MPs.

The health secretary said ministers must work harder to "carry people with us" and that he has learned from last year's foundation hospitals rebellion, when Labour narrowly avoided a Commons defeat.

Meanwhile ahead of Reid's five year plan for the NHS to be unveiled on Thursday, shadow health secretary Andrew Lansley will today detail the Conservative's "right to choose" reforms.
