Bank considers further interest rate rise

The FT reports that a surge in manufacturing output has removed one of the obstacles to further interest rate rises.

The monetary policy committee of the Bank of England meets today to consider whether to lift base rates.

If rates do go up, it would be the first back-to-back rises in over four years.
