Aslef chiefs set for sack

The top two officials at train drivers' union Aslef are facing dismissal over their conduct during the "battle of the barbecue".

General secretary Shaun Brady and president Martin Samways have been ordered to appear at hearings over their involvement in the events of 20 May.

A TUC report into the row at a party at the union's headquarters, seen by the Independent, reserves its fiercest criticism for Samways, who was found to have struck Brady's female personal assistant.
