Government minister Lord Warner is urging health authorities to appoint local "champions" to encourage the uptake of cancer drugs.

The move is a response to a report from Department of Health cancer "tsar" Professor Mike Richards showing postcode prescribing is still taking place.

Another report to be published this week, to which Professor Richards has also contributed, suggests that an aging population with more people suffering from cancer threatens to bankrupt the NHS.
