ID cards threaten race relations, claims CRE
The Commission for Racial Equality has told a committee of MPs that Home Office plans for ID cards could allow the police to further victimise ethnic minorities.
The Commons home affairs committee heard that officers could use demands to see a card as a means of harassing black and Asian men.
Meanwhile the Home Office has pledged to introduce eye scanners in UK airports within a year.
