David Westwood, the embattled chief constable of Humberside, is still refusing to step down.

The police authority ordered by David Blunkett to suspend him will meet tomorrow.

"My personal view is that David should be allowed to see out his contract," said chairman Colin Inglis.

"The last thing Humberside Police needs is a big song and dance about the home secretary trying to get rid of him."
