Joint rail strike threatens chaos
The RMT union has announced a joint London Underground and national overground strike for 24 hours next week.
The transport workers' body's decision to give the minimum legal notice for the stoppage will mean only a skeleton service will be available from 6.30pm next Tuesday.
Transport secretary Alistair Darling and London mayor Ken Livingstone could be forced to put pressure on employers to find extra money for pay in order to avoid travel chaos.
