BMA slams Labour's 'wasteful' health plans

The BMA has warned the government that a significant reduction in waiting times could result in many companies scrapping private health schemes for their workers.

At its conference in Llandudno, the BMA also agreed that the government's patient choice initiative would not deliver real alternatives, was wasteful of NHS resources, muddled lines of clinical responsibility and contributed to the "creeping privatisation of healthcare".
