Stats chief wants more autonomy
The government's top statistician has called for greater independence from politicians.
Writing in the latest edition of Significance, the journal of the Royal Statistical Society, national statistician Len Cook argued that the degree of independence he has "comes from a mix of law, convention and ministerial statement" and limits his actions.
