Hoon and Blunkett quarrel over spending
David Blunkett and Geoff Hoon are locked in a dispute over how national security spending should be divided between their departments.
As the Treasury confirmed that Gordon Brown's comprehensive spending review will be unveiled on July 12, the Times says that the home secretary is still fighting to protect his law and order budget.
Tony Blair, foreign secretary Jack Straw, defence secretary Hoon and Blunkett, all of whom are partly responsible for the intelligence and security services, will discuss this week how the spending should be allocated.
