Allies of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown are said to be split over whether Labour's next manifesto should pledge further public sector reform.

The Independent reports that the chancellor does not want a series of pledges on extending "personal choice" in public services.

But the Sun and the Mail claim that Blair and Brown will put talk of divisions behind them on Tuesday when they both attend the first meeting of the Commission for Africa and a Labour campaign launch.
