Charles Kennedy has repeated his call for voters to use next month's European elections as a chance to register opposition to the war in Iraq.

He said Britain was being "led by the nose by this present American administration".

And launching his local election campaign, the Lib Dem leader detailed plans to replace the council tax with a local income tax operated through the PAYE system.
