The French president, Jacques Chirac, is likely to raise his concerns that Britain is to mount new objections to the draft EU constitution when he meets Tony Blair for lunch on Sunday.

The two men may also discuss the possible candidates for the European Commission presidency, including the former Conservative chairman Chris Patten.
