Science funding cut by DTI

A government scheme providing grants to science and technology start-up companies has been cut back.

Under plans published on the Department of Trade and Industry website, funding for the Grants for Research and Development scheme has been reduced from £45 million to £36 million.

The total number of grants will be cut from 900 to 300.
