Ministers under fire over farming reforms

The government has come under fire for pushing through farming reforms without first considering their impact.

In a report published today, the Commons environment select committee argues that  change was implemented out of political expediency, with ministers failing to publish full impact assessments before agreeing to the new "single payment" system for EU farm subsidies.

MPs warned that large administrative errors are also possible.
