PM drops Crossrail hint
The prime minister yesterday gave the strongest indication yet that the government will back the London Crossrail project.
But Tony Blair's support for the Heathrow to Canary Wharf rail link, as well as the East London line underground extension, sparked criticism that he was breaking election rules.
Labour mayoral candidate Ken Livingstone will today pledge to spend £4 billion on the tube if he wins a second term.
