Hughes unbowed by polls
Simon Hughes, the Liberal Democrat candidate for mayor of London, has claimed that he is still on course for an upset in the elections next month.
Charles Kennedy, meanwhile, has claimed that a "quantum change" is surging through Britain as disillusioned ethnic minority voters switch from Labour to the Liberal Democrats in record numbers.
