Nurses have unanimously rejected the Conservative Party's flagship health policy.

More than 95 per cent of nurses voted against the idea of "patient passports".

Delegates at the annual conference of the Royal College of Nurses said the idea was part of moves to privatise the NHS and would lead to serious inequalities between those who could afford to pay and those who could not.

Meanwhile, today's Mirror reports that single mothers training to be nurses will have 85 per cent of their child care costs met under a new government recruitment scheme.
