The FT reports that the Health and Safety Executive is set to be stripped of its responsibilities on the railways.

Industry submissions to the Department for Transport's railways review came out strongly in favour handing safety powers to the Office of Rail Regulation.

But it is claimed that little consensus has been reached on most other aspects of the wide-ranging review.
