Deported asylum seeker shot on return home

A father who fled to Britain with his wife and family has been shot after being deported.

Jhon Reyes-Prado was sent back to Colombia last month despite a campaign on his behalf by his MP, David Miliband.

He suffered severe injuries after being gunned down by two hooded men on a motorbike.

Meanwhile, the government's crackdown on illegal immigrants is resulting in people being detained in rudimentary police cells for excessive periods of up to 96 hours, according to the Guardian.
