UK accused over sanitation pledges

The government will today be singled out for particular criticism for failing to honour its commitments on drinking water and sanitation.

In a report to a UN summit on the issue, charities argue that, despite Tony Blair's pledges, less than two per cent of the UK's international aid budget is dedicated to providing clean water in the poorest countries.
