2005 turnout may fall below 50 per cent, poll finds

A Sun poll, conducted by YouGov, has found that less than half the population is certain to vote at the next general election.

Only 50 per cent of respondents said they would definitely be voting, a number the paper suggests may yet fall further.

In alarming news for the Labour Party, it seems more of the people certain to vote are Conservatives, at 72 per cent, compared to 61 per cent of Labour supporters.

The poll found that only 26 per cent of the population cared who runs Britain.
